Kauai Luau Tickets: What to Know Before You Book

You've decided to go to a luau. Now comes the part that trips up a lot of travelers: figuring out which Kauai luau tickets to buy, what they actually include, and how far in advance you need to act.

At Auli'i Lūʻau, we get these questions often. This guide walks you through everything you need to know before you book, so you show up on the night feeling prepared rather than surprised.

What Your Kauai Luau Tickets Actually Cover

A luau ticket at Auli'i is not a single-item purchase. It covers an entire evening.

When you book with us, your ticket includes the full Polynesian performance, a Hawaiian buffet dinner, and access to pre-show cultural activities on the beach at Poipu. You're not paying for a seat at a dinner table or a seat at a show. You're booking both, together, as one experience.

The dinner, the drinks, the cultural activities, and the performance are all part of how a traditional Hawaiian gathering is meant to unfold.

The Two Kauai Luau Ticket Options at Auli'i

We offer two Kauai luau ticket packages: the Aloha package and the Ali'i package. Both include the complete evening experience. The difference between them comes down to seating position, check-in experience, and a few added perks.

When to Buy Your Kauai Luau Tickets

The most common mistake travelers make is waiting too long.

Auli'i Lūʻau holds a limited number of seats per show night. We run on Mondays and Wednesdays only, which means there are a fixed number of reservation slots each week. Ali'i seating, with its first four rows and premier check-in, fills first.

We recommend booking your Kauai oceanfront luau reservation at least two to three weeks before your date, and further in advance during summer, the holiday season, and spring break. If your travel dates are fixed, book as soon as you know them.

Here's why the timing also affects your seat: seating assignments at Auli'i are based on reservation date, not on when you arrive that evening. The earlier you book within your chosen package, the better your table position will be. Two guests who both select the Aloha package will sit in different spots depending entirely on when they reserved.

This is one of the most practical pieces of information to know before you buy Kauai luau tickets, and it's easy to overlook when you're still in early trip-planning mode.

What to Expect the Night of Your Luau

The evening at Auli'i runs for roughly two and a half hours and moves through several distinct phases.

The pre-show activities at the oceanfront Poipu Beach setting start from the moment you walk in, and you don't want to miss them.

At 5:30 PM, the early Hawaiian hula show begins alongside the buffet dinner service.

At 6:30 PM, the main Polynesian revue starts. The performance takes the audience through the stories and dances of Tahiti, Hawai'i, Aotearoa, and Samoa. The evening closes with the Siva Afi, the traditional Samoan fire knife dance, performed on the sand with the Pacific Ocean just yards away.

After the performance, guests have the opportunity to take photos with the performers. Professional luau photos from the evening are also available for purchase from our on-site photographer.

Luau Ticket Questions Buyers Ask Most

Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes. Auli'i Lūʻau offers a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before the event. Cancellations within 24 hours result in a full charge. If you booked through a third-party affiliate, their cancellation policy will differ from ours, so contact them directly.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes. We provide a full allergen chart on our website and ask that guests notify us of specific dietary needs at the time of booking. Our buffet dinner includes a range of dishes, and we take food allergies seriously.

Do children attend free?

Children three years old and under attend at no cost, as long as they sit in an adult's lap throughout the event. If you'd like your child to have their own seat, we recommend purchasing a youth ticket.

What happens if it rains?

The luau at Auli'i is an oceanfront event at the Sheraton Kaua'i Resort on Poipu Beach. If inclement weather is predicted, the event moves to the Poipu Ballroom, an indoor location within the resort. All guests receive advance notice of any location change by email or text.

Where do I park?

Park in the Sheraton Kaua'i Resort event parking area or use the complimentary valet service.
